About Noreen
My name is Noreen Premji. I graduated with a Journalism and English Bachelors of Science in 2017, and a Masters in Media and Communications from the London School of Economics and Political Science in 2020. My background in media began as being a photojournalist for the university paper, The Daily Beacon, in 2014. From there, I was able to participate in the College of Communication Global Program in Sydney, Australia during my junior year of undergraduate. I was able to work at a magazine called Peninsula Living, while completing coursework in intercultural communications. Once I returned from this program, I interned as a general assignment reporter for the Knoxville News Sentinel, where I produced news stories, feature articles and the daily “Good Morning East Tennessee” column. Upon graduation, I decided to take a gap year and taught English in France with the program, TAPIF. During this year, I developed a passion for teaching and had wonderful experiences to travel around Europe. I returned to a communications internship with the Aga Khan Development Network in New Delhi, India. I was able to visit some of the poorest regions in the nation and share stories of individuals and community efforts to change the narrative. I decided after this opportunity that I would like to further my education in communications and improve upon my understanding of media, and I decided to pursue my Masters at the LSE. My future interests are to work in the large world of media and communications, and I am open to opportunities that will enable me to use my previous skills in photography, video, writing, editing and interpersonal communications and develop upon a broader understanding of areas such as advertising, public relations, media marketing and other fields. I am an eager, hard-working and individual with strong communication skills and an understanding of diverse cultures, the power of inclusivity and a desire to tell stories and represent diverse voices.
When I’m not consumed by the world of media, I enjoy pursuing my other passions, such as, yoga, running, cooking, traveling, photography, videography, editing, reading and being anywhere in nature. Tennessee is the perfect location for me to be able to enjoy the city while being able to escape and get beautiful views of the mountains, lakes and a breath of fresh air.
